Sick Day:(

At home, sick as a dog. I've been battling the flu this week. Not fun. I'm too sick to write for more than a few minutes, so I'm laying in bed watching movies.

The weather in Dallas has been pretty cold, so it's nice to simply lay in bed and rest. Since I'm too sick to be around my honey , (I don't want him to get sick too), I've been longing to watch a good romance. So far, I've enjoyed Pride & Prejudice (love it), Avatar, She's the Man, Braveheart, Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging, and The Holiday. All great movies!

If you have any movie recommendations, please post a comment. I have plenty of time to watch. 

Coffee Time Gives Love Script 5 Cups

I've been hinting about uploading new pictures to the site for ages. Well, I finally did and I could not be happier. I recently had the honor of working with makeup artist and photographer Steven D. Hill. What a talent! 

For those of you who don't know, Steven is an awesome Dallas, Texas photographer. When we started the project, I had two requests; 1) make me pretty, and 2) make me skinny. To be more exact, I said "I want Mariah Carey airbrushing" . This was a tall order. I'm not photogenic at ALL. In fact, most of my pictures are taken with a group of friends at some bar. We are drunk 99.7% of the time.

Fun fact: The picture on my homepage (the one I typically use when blogging) is NOT a posed picture. I did not purposely take the picture with the intent of looking away. The story behind that picture (the short one); I was trying to take a picture of my friends. I was on my third or fourth margarita and guess what ? … I dropped the camera. Camera flashed just before slamming to the ground. Good times. 

Back to my point, I do not have Tyra Banks 'smeyes'. Steven had his work cut out for him. The first few picks were horrible because I was so nervous. SOMEHOW, Steven managed to get me to loosen up and get a decent shot of me. I love the new pictures. The shoot was fun.

New Book Cover Approved

Hi Everyone!

Great news. The cover picture for LOVE SCRIPT: DELUXE EDITION has been selected. This was a BIG step in the right direction. I was so stressed after deciding on the shot, I needed a nap! There were so many great pictures to choose from, I was admittedly overwhelmed.

After much deliberation, a picture was selected. I love it and I know you will too. The new Nick and Laney are crazy hot!!! 

I need to take a moment to thank Jimmy Thomas (Nick Sinclair model) for lending his talents and limitless patience (we author types can be SOOOO annoying:) and Tiffany Belle (Laney Parks model). Great work. Awesome professionals.

We will reveal the new cover next month (yes … December). I will unveil the picture to all those who are signed up for my newsletter first (one of the many perks for signing up). You'll get to see the new cover even before the press release goes out.  Lucky you!

DELUXE EDITION February Release Date

Hi Everyone!

This is just an update to let you know the January 11th release date for LOVE SCRIPT: DELUXE EDTION has been postponed until February 1st, 2011. I know…it sucks! However, this really would allow us to better position the book and maximize the marketing (or so they tell me).

At any rate, I'm really excited for everyone to finally read it. For me, even though I love Nick and Laney,  I'm eager to start talking about the next book in this series. I've almost finished plotting out the story and I'm ready to start dropping hints . But for now, we'll have to be patient and wait until Feb 1. Trust me, the wait will be well worth it.

Borders Book Signing Event

 I recently attended a book signing event this past weekend. I am ashamed to say this was the first one I've ever been to. I typically shy away from these types of things, but this time I had no choice. The reason? Two words…Jaci Burton. If you've been reading my blogs, you know I am a HUGE fan of Burton's work. So imagine my expression a few weeks ago when, while browsing the romance section at Borders, I looked up and read a sheet of paper announcing Jaci Burton, Maya Banks, Shayla Black and Karen Whiddon would be participating in a book signing event later that month. I assure you my expression was FAR from cute. I was practically salivating. A chance to actually see Jaci Burton? Too cool! Yes, I know I sound like a total geek but you'll just have to learn to forgive me. For me, this was like going to a Hollywood premiere. Not really, but really. Of course, I've heard of Banks and Black before but I can't recall actually reading one of their books. I must correct that error ASAP. (PICTURE: Me and Jaci Burton)

The day of the event, I think I changed outfits four different times. I swear it felt like I was going out on a date! I was seriously nervous. I kept wondering 'will I be able to get close enough to talk to Jaci?' and 'what if she's super mean to me?' Yes, very nervous. (PICTURE: Me and Maya Banks)

 

 

 

I won't bore you with the details. Let's just say, my stomach was a mess until I finally arrived at the bookstore. As usual, I was late. Playing it forward, I DID get to meet Jaci and she could not have been more nice! I got to chat with her briefly and she offered me some career advise. How cool is that? I was so nervous, my hands were shaking. I wouldn't be surprised if I kinda freaked her out. Don't tell anyone, but my eyes get a little loopy when I'm nervous. Long story short, I had a great time. All of the authors were simply delightful. The event was well organized and I had an opportunity to swap book recommendations with other attendees. (PICTURE: Me and Karen Whiddon) 

Love Script (original version) Retires This Month

The original release of LOVE SCRIPT retires October 30th, 2010. If you wish to read the novel in its original form, you can still purchase it at Barnes and Noble and Amazon.

We have decided to faze out this version of the book to make way for the release of LOVE SCRIPT: DELUXE EDITION. This is an extended version of the Nick and Laney story. If you enjoyed the original, you'll love the deluxe.

LOVE SCRIPT: DELUXE EDITION will be released to retailers nationwide on January 11th, 2011.
